Welcome to
The George and Dragon Chipstead

Since the time of King Henry VIII the George & Dragon, Chipstead has been offering hospitality to locals and visitors. Renovated by new owner Benjamin James in 2009, his mission was to breathe life back into a beautiful but tired sixteenth-century pub, using tasteful decor, a roaring log fire and a menu that changes daily and uses the best of what the local, organic farms in Kent, Sussex, and Surrey have to offer.

The real open fire, heavy oak beams, upstairs and downstairs, solid furnishings and original features make this gastropub the perfect venue for a casual lunch, dinner with friends, or romantic dinner for two.

At its heart the George & Dragon, Chipstead remains a local village pub, offering a warm welcome, friendly hospitality and excellent food.  Everything is fresh, seasonal and where possible local.

We visited The George and Dragon on a hot Wednesday evening, arriving early to enjoy some snacks and drinks outside. After hearing amazing reviews about the bread, we ordered some and it was indeed scrumptious. There was a good choice on the menu. All of our party really enjoyed their mains, and we could tell the ingredients were of exception quality, and fresh. Dessert of cherry millefeuille was very tasty and the pastry was exceptional. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely be making another visit.

We celebrated my wife's 40th birthday with 14 of our close friends last Saturday. The service and staff were amazing and so friendly and helped so much with ideas for the pre booked menu including dietary requirements a few weeks pria to the evening. We all enjoyed the stunning weather and had drinks in a part of the pubs garden reserved for our party before and after the meal, an excellent place to chat and relax, everyone enjoyed it immensely. The food was excellent and very well priced, everyone enjoyed the food and atmosphere immensely. A return is defiantly on the cards for the next birthday in the group soon.
